Lead Environmental Engineer

About the role

The Lead Environmental Engineer will provide technical expertise and guidance for the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of environmental clean‑up projects. Working within an international organization, the role focuses on site‑level remediation activities that must comply with national legislation and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical expertise on environmental remediation, including site‑specific assessments, risk assessments and implementation planning.
• Ensure all remediation activities comply with national and international environmental legislation, permitting requirements and institutional procedures.
• Review and assess environmental impact assessments, remediation plans, contractor submissions and monitoring data for regulatory compliance.
• Provide specialised guidance for the Small Pond of OHIS Industrial Site Clean‑Up project and other designated hot‑spot sites.
• Support supervision of on‑site remediation works, verifying technical compliance with approved designs and standards.
• Contribute to the development of detailed project work plans, schedules, technical specifications and Terms of Reference.
• Verify waste categorisation and quantities based on field data.
• Assist the Project Manager in stakeholder coordination, engaging national authorities, contractors and technical groups to facilitate smooth project implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental engineering and remediation projects.
• Strong knowledge of national and international environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Ability to interpret and review technical documentation such as EIAs and contractor reports.
• Experience supervising on‑site remediation activities and ensuring compliance with design specifications.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with national authorities and contractors.
