Assistant Service Manager

About the role

The Assistant Service Manager works closely with the Executive Service Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the centre, covering compliance, safety, people support and family engagement. This role models high‑quality educational practice, maintains safe and welcoming environments, and steps in to lead when the manager is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Executive Service Manager to oversee daily centre operations.
• Ensure compliance with EYLF, NQS, and the National Quality Framework.
• Maintain safe, clean, and aesthetically aligned learning environments.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and performance processes for staff.
• Keep accurate records for staff and children, meeting all regulatory requirements.
• Act as WHS representative, conducting safety checks, drills and risk management.
• Provide operational coverage during manager absences.
• Lead by example, demonstrating consistency, respect, intentionality and collaboration.

Required profile

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Lead Educator.
• Strong knowledge of EYLF, NQS and the National Quality Framework.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience supporting teams and maintaining compliance systems.
• Current Working With Children Check and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
• Willingness to complete mandatory National Child Safety Training if not already certified.
