Geotechnical Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Geotechnical Manager to lead geotechnical and earthworks activities on a railway project in North Macedonia. The role involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing all ground‑related works to ensure they meet schedule, quality and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage geotechnical and earthworks activities in line with project schedule, specifications and quality standards.
• Oversee excavation, embankment construction, ground improvement, slope stabilisation and ground support works.
• Review geotechnical investigation findings, design reports and soil parameters to ensure alignment with site conditions.
• Identify and resolve geotechnical issues in collaboration with design and construction teams.
• Manage workforce, equipment and resources for earthworks, monitoring progress and productivity.
• Supervise geotechnical monitoring, field and laboratory testing and related quality control activities.
• Coordinate with the employer, engineer, subcontractors and internal project teams on technical and operational matters.
• Ensure departmental compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, method statements and progress documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and earthworks on large‑scale railway, highway, metro or similar infrastructure projects.
• Proven managerial or senior supervisory experience leading site teams and construction operations.
• Strong practical knowledge of excavation, embankment construction, ground improvement, slope stability and ground support systems.
• Ability to interpret geotechnical designs and translate technical requirements into effective site execution.
• Experience in construction planning, resource management, progress monitoring and technical reporting.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with employers, engineers and subcontractors.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
