Junior Consultant – NAP Human Mobility Expert

About the role

IOM, a UN-related organization, is recruiting a Junior Consultant for its project on mainstreaming migration and climate change perspectives into the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes in North Macedonia. The consultant supports the Government of North Macedonia in integrating human mobility considerations into national climate adaptation planning, within the Climate Action Department's Green Pathways initiative. The role involves technical expertise, facilitating consultations and supporting technical meetings and workshops with ministries and institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare agendas, background materials, presentations and concise meeting summaries for up to five NAP technical meetings, including recommendations and follow-up actions.
• Prepare consultation agendas, guiding questions, supporting materials and summaries for up to ten stakeholder consultations.
• Contribute to the preparation of background materials, presentations, reports and project documentation.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, social sciences, business administration, management, communications, international development or a related field.
• Fluency in Macedonian and English; knowledge of the languages of the Western Balkans is an advantage.
• Experience in project support, sustainable development, environmental initiatives, communications, research or community engagement.
• Training or knowledge of gender mainstreaming, inclusive policy design and gender-responsive approaches.
• Experience supporting stakeholder consultations, community engagement, outreach and the preparation of meetings and workshops.
• Ability to conduct desk research and work with people of different nationalities and cultures.

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
• Familiarity with climate change adaptation, human mobility and related policy processes is an advantage.
