Student Internship – System Administrator

About the role

Payten offers a student internship in system administration and IT infrastructure. You will work with real Linux servers, gain hands‑on experience in system management, and develop troubleshooting skills under the guidance of experienced mentors.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure.
• Manage users, permissions, processes, and system resources.
• Monitor systems, analyse logs and diagnose issues.
• Apply basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS) in a production environment.
• Develop Bash scripts and explore automation opportunities.
• Participate in backup, monitoring and security tasks.
• Collaborate on real infrastructure projects and learn DevOps practices.

Required profile

• Regular student of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• In the final year of studies.
• Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems.
• Interest in learning system administration and IT infrastructure.
• Analytical mindset and ability to work in a team.

Required skills

• Linux command‑line usage.
• Understanding of file systems, permissions, users and groups.
• Familiarity with processes, services and system resources.
• Basic TCP/IP and DNS concepts.
• Bash scripting (advantage).
