EHS Specialist

About the role

Johnson Matthey is seeking an EHS Specialist to lead environmental management at its North Macedonian facility. The role focuses on waste handling, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of sustainability processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the creation, storage, and disposal of factory waste, ensuring uninterrupted export processes.
• Act as the responsible person for export controls and waste documentation.
• Advise the company on compliance with environmental laws and Johnson Matthey standards.
• Develop and implement waste‑management policies and functional systems.
• Deliver EHS training programs, including waste‑handling and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with management to design sustainable waste‑management processes.
• Assess workplace environments for potential environmental issues and report non‑conformities.
• Conduct regular waste‑management inspections and support incident investigations.
• Monitor waste movement, ensure removal complies with local legal requirements, and maintain proper documentation.
• Initiate and drive programs that minimize waste generation.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Technology, or Chemical Engineering.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken Macedonian and English.
• Proven ability to lead training sessions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
