Metal Accountant

About the role

As a Metal Accountant you will join Johnson Matthey, a world leader in platinum group metals, to support the accounting and financial management of precious metal inventories. You will ensure accurate reporting, compliance and effective collaboration across commercial and supply‑chain teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain precise precious metal accounting records, including monthly reconciliations, journal entries and Metal Trial Balance reporting.
• Monitor and reconcile metal inventories, hedging activities, customer metal balances and coverage processes to guarantee financial accuracy.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain and global business teams to identify metal requirements, manage borrowing/hedging activities and support intercompany transactions.
• Manage precious metal working capital and inventory processes, including stock takes, forecasting inputs and analysis of metal variances.
• Support audit and compliance activities by resolving metal‑related findings, ensuring timely process order closures and adhering to internal controls.

Required profile

• University degree qualification.
• Ability to apply relevant Accounting Standards and cost principles.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Significant experience embedding compliance to accounting policies and controls in a global organisation.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and provide insight under time pressure.
