National Communications Consultant for UN Women

About the role

The UN Women Office in North Macedonia is seeking a National Communications Consultant to support the implementation of its communication strategy, advocacy, media relations and outreach activities for gender‑responsive budgeting and youth empowerment projects.

Key responsibilities

• Revise and update communications needs assessments and develop outreach/advocacy strategies for the GRB and Youth projects.
• Integrate communications and advocacy components into project proposals and ensure gender‑responsive messaging.
• Monitor and analyse print and social media, preparing regular reports.
• Coordinate in‑country campaigns and special events, including International Women’s Day and the 16‑day activism campaign.
• Produce communication materials that highlight women’s leadership, diplomacy, and Women, Peace and Security agenda.
• Promote visibility of initiatives that advance women’s participation in decision‑making, peacebuilding and security.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of UN Women’s mandate on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and Women, Peace and Security.
• Experience in planning and implementing communication and advocacy strategies in a development or UN context.
• Ability to work closely with programme analysts and other UN Women colleagues and report to the Head of Office.
