Platform Engineer – Remote (Macedonia)

About the role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join a US‑based SaaS company that serves the real‑estate industry. The role blends software development with DevOps, allowing you to write code while owning the 24/7 production hosting platform. You will work remotely from anywhere in Macedonia, collaborating closely with application engineers to automate and improve infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain a large‑scale, always‑on website hosting platform with a focus on uptime, reliability and recoverability.
• Manage and evolve AWS services such as ECS, ECR, EC2, CloudFront, RDS, Route 53 and S3.
• Design and provision infrastructure alongside product and engineering teams.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Octopus Deploy and related tools.
• Develop automation that enables engineers to perform routine operational tasks themselves.
• Use Cursor as the primary interface for coding, AWS interaction and platform tooling.
• Ensure observability through Grafana, Loki, Alloy and Prometheus.
• Maintain platform and edge security using WAF, fail2ban and Linux hardening techniques.

Required profile

• Computer Science or software engineering background with a strong interest in infrastructure and DevOps.
• Comfortable working 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 14:00‑22:00 CEST, with occasional weekend on‑call for production issues.
• Ability to write production‑grade code and to switch between development and operations tasks.
