About the role
As a Spam and Abuse Analyst in Proton's MSA department, you will help protect millions of users by detecting and mitigating spam, abusive sign‑ups, and security threats across Proton's email, VPN, calendar, drive and pass services. You will work with a multidisciplinary team that builds and operates custom systems combining human intelligence and machine learning.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze large volumes of email traffic and account activity to identify spam, abuse patterns and security incidents.
- Develop and fine‑tune detection rules and machine‑learning models to improve classification accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering, data and reliability teams to design end‑to‑end solutions for mail delivery, abuse prevention and site reliability.
- Respond to emerging threats, including bulk sign‑up attacks and DDoS attempts, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide actionable insights and reports to improve product security and user experience.
Required profile
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex, data‑driven problems.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
