Data Engineer

About the role

Avenga is looking for a Data Engineer to design and build robust, cloud‑native data pipelines and backend applications. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver data‑driven solutions that support business objectives while ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and manage infrastructure with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Containerise applications with Docker and orchestrate workloads using Kubernetes or ECS.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data models, ensure data quality, and optimise performance.
• Participate in architecture decisions, cost‑optimization, and observability practices.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience as a Data or Software Engineer in production environments.
• Strong Python programming skills for backend and application development.
• Proficient in SQL for data transformation and querying.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes/ECS, and CI/CD tools.
