Intern – Communication, Advocacy & Youth Mobilization on Gender Equality

About the role

This internship supports the Human Rights and Gender Thematic Group in advancing gender equality through communication, advocacy, and youth engagement. Working under the Resident Coordinator Office, the intern will help amplify young voices and promote intergenerational dialogue on gender issues.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing communication and advocacy initiatives focused on gender equality with a youth‑oriented approach.
• Develop advocacy messages, talking points, briefing notes, and visibility materials for young audiences.
• Create social media content, short articles, visuals, and presentations for gender‑equality campaigns.
• Support data‑informed advocacy by preparing simple data visualisations and youth‑friendly communication products.
• Engage with youth groups, student associations, and youth‑led CSOs to mobilise participation in consultations, campaigns, and events.
• Help organise youth‑focused dialogues, workshops, panel discussions, and outreach events.
• Coordinate joint UN gender campaigns, liaise with partners, and follow up with stakeholders.
• Review and summarise documents, strategies, and research on gender equality and youth engagement.
• Maintain databases of youth and gender‑related stakeholders and support UN reporting processes.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Studies in communications, advocacy, or related fields are desired.
• No professional work experience required; eligibility for the UN Internship Programme.
