Metal Accountant

About the role

Johnson Matthey, a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history, is looking for a Metal Accountant. The role helps drive the company's goals by keeping precious metal accounting accurate and compliant, and works closely with commercial, supply chain and global business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate precious metal accounting records, including monthly reconciliations, journal entries and Metal Trial Balance reporting.
• Monitor and reconcile metal inventories, hedging activities, customer metal balances and coverage processes.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain and global business teams to identify metal requirements, manage metal borrowing and hedging, and support intercompany transactions.
• Manage precious metal working capital and inventory processes, including stock takes, forecasting inputs and analysis of metal variances.
• Support audit and compliance by resolving metal-related findings, closing process orders accurately and adhering to internal controls.

Required profile

• University degree qualification.
• Ability to embed compliance to accounting policies and controls in a global organization.
• Significant experience in this area; candidates who match only some of the listed skills are encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Knowledge of applicable Accounting Standards and Cost.
• Microsoft Office and knowledge of SAP.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and provide challenge and insight, often under time pressure.
