Billing Specialist

About the role

HMD Transport, an asset-backed freight brokerage based in Chicago, IL, is looking for a Billing Specialist. The role covers accounts receivable, invoice creation, carrier bill review and approval, and claims handling, while maintaining accurate records and supporting carrier and customer activities.

Key responsibilities

• Generate bills and invoices for customer accounts
• Analyze shipped but unbilled revenue
• Research and resolve billing problems
• Coordinate with Operations and with the supervisor on invoice, bill of lading or rate confirmation issues
• Review carrier bills and approve them for payment
• Maintain client relationships and meet accounting expectations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Familiarity with basic accounting principles and procedures
• Ability to handle claims, collections and settlements
• Previous experience is not required but is a plus

Required skills

• Solid data entry speed and accuracy
• Intermediate MS Excel
• Organization, accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
