Grant-Funded Epidemiologist – Public Health

About the role

The Epidemiologist will work under the direction of the Health Director to investigate, analyze, and help prevent communicable diseases and other health conditions. This grant‑funded position focuses on surveillance, outbreak response, and data‑driven public‑health strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and conduct epidemiologic investigations using scientific methods.
• Design, implement, and evaluate survey instruments and data‑collection methodologies.
• Perform data management and statistical analysis with software such as SAS, R, SPSS, and Epi Info.
• Maintain and improve surveillance systems, generate reports, and support program evaluation.
• Assist with outbreak investigations, including onsite facility reviews and stakeholder interviews.
• Prepare and file required county, state, and federal reports for suspected and confirmed cases.
• Provide scientific advice, technical assistance, and educational sessions on communicable‑disease topics.
• Support grant writing and data collection for grant applications.

• Works under the direction of the Health Director or designee.
• Complies with civil‑service policies, collective‑bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
• Establishes effective relationships with clients, supervisors, elected officials, law‑enforcement, and the public.

What we offer

• Hourly compensation ranging from $36.07 to $39.70.
