Project Coordinator – Natural Resource Management

About the role

The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of a GEF6‑funded natural resource management project, working closely with project partners, the Project Management Unit, and government stakeholders. This part‑time, nine‑month position focuses on coordinating field activities, technical inputs, and reporting across reforestation, sustainable land management, and biodiversity components.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of the GEF6 project with partners and the PMU.
• Support natural resource assessments, planning, evaluation and capacity‑building activities.
• Manage partner registration, due‑diligence, TORs and agreement development.
• Monitor partner performance and ensure delivery of project outputs.
• Provide technical inputs for reforestation/afforestation guidelines and SLM/SFM practices.
• Coordinate with ministries, municipalities and experts on pilot sites.
• Develop knowledge‑management products and ensure accurate technical, progress and financial reporting.
• Organise GEF6 Project Steering Committee meetings and prepare required reports.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and the preparation of new project proposals related to land degradation and biodiversity.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in environmental/natural resource management, forestry, agriculture, legal sciences or related field (or Bachelor’s plus 2 years relevant experience).
• Minimum five years of experience in natural resource management, project implementation or project management with a proven results record.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and project‑management knowledge.
• Experience in land and forestry management, environmental or agricultural technical work, preferably with the UN or another international organization.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Macedonian; knowledge of Albanian or other regional languages is an asset.
