System Engineer

About the role

Payten is seeking a System Engineer to join its IT team, working on complex, secure and highly available payment technology infrastructure. You will manage real‑world production environments, supporting both Linux and Windows servers while ensuring performance, reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux and Windows servers and related systems.
• Monitor system performance, availability and capacity, and analyse logs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, connectivity and application issues (L2 support).
• Deploy, configure and maintain applications, middleware and virtualization platforms (VMware).
• Manage users, permissions, processes, services and system resources.
• Support backup, disaster‑recovery, patching and security activities.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting and automation scripts using Bash and PowerShell.
• Participate in incident, problem and change management processes.
• Collaborate with Development, Network, Database, Security and Application Support teams on projects and upgrades.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in system administration or system engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server environments.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS and basic firewall concepts.
• Experience with system monitoring, log analysis and basic database concepts.
• Proficiency in Bash and PowerShell scripting.
• Hands‑on experience with virtualization technologies, especially VMware.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and independent problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills in English.
