Freelance Business Analyst (Data)

About the role

Valtech is seeking a freelance Business Analyst (Data) to join a delivery squad building a Loyalty Revenue Accounting solution on Databricks. You will define data requirements, business logic and mapping rules for finance outputs, and keep documentation up‑to‑date as requirements evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Define and document data requirements for the platform, collaborating with Finance, Loyalty and architecture stakeholders.
• Produce source‑to‑target mapping specifications, covering field‑level mappings, transformations and reference data.
• Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria and requirements in Jira for engineers and testers.
• Maintain traceability from business need through requirements to design and update documentation as changes occur.
• Support walkthroughs and sign‑off sessions with Finance and other business stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst on data‑focused projects (data platforms, warehouses, migrations).
• Ability to read and reason about data structures, tables and fields with working knowledge of SQL.
• Strong written requirements skills, including managing requirements in Jira.
• Experience defining both business logic and data mapping logic.
